Social Furniture Service (SMS) - Good Furniture for a Good Cause

Our Social Furniture Service (SMS) is the link between Duisburg citizens who want to part with their furniture and those who appreciate good second-hand items. We will collect your used furniture from you free of charge after you have notified us by telephone or sent us an e-mail (if possible, please include a picture of the furniture) and, if necessary, we will refurbish it in our carpentry workshop. The pieces of furniture, e.g. bedsteads, tables, cupboards and chairs, are then used for the benefit of people who are dependent on citizens' assistance or social welfare and cannot easily afford new furniture.

Furthermore, we build personal pieces of furniture in our carpentry workshop, repair furniture and toys for day-care centres and schools and act as a partner of the city of Duisburg for the complete furnishing and delivery of residential furnishings.

People who are in receipt of benefits from Bürgergeld or social assistance are entitled by the job centre or the City of Duisburg to obtain further items of furniture from our warehouse in addition to the initial furnishings to which they are entitled. All pieces of furniture will be delivered to your home by us, upon presentation of the appropriate authorisation.
